Artist: Alan Berry Rhys (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Alan's favorite place to watch the sunset is aboard a boat, beer in hand, fishing on the Parana river in his native Argentina. That experience inspires “Carnada Viva” (“Live Bait” in English), which draws on the mythology of the river and the tropical forest that surrounds it. Alan’s design, and much of his work, emulates the hand-painted billboards of the bait shops that dot the river valley. The bright colors, the tactile feelings, and the generations of stories conveyed by these signs are evident in Alan’s work, and make it shine with a unmatched vibrant energy that is quintessentially Argentinian.
